The end of Oneword

I was quite saddened to hear Oneword ceased transmitting on 12th January 2008. The radio station was only available via the internet or digital radio, however it run many quality programs such as plays, poetry and readings of novels. It was a genuine pioneer and encouraged the BBC to launch BBC7.

However the audience was too low and they couldn't attract sufficient advertisers. Additionally digital radio has not taken off at the speed expected, the owners/funders of Oneword may have had vested interests and failed to promote the station adequately. Finally their website was lime green.
It is my firm belief that had the service been managed properly, it need not have closed down.

Still Oneword proved to me that the British can be very intelligent and do great things.
